The Nyamira County Governor Hon. John Nyagarama has opened up one of the most humiliating scenarios in the presence of the president.

During a press briefing yesterday, Thursday, November 5th, Nyagarama recalled the unfortunate happenings that saw the president turn down his request.

The Governor said that a section of the residents of Nyamira behaved ungodly during president Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to the vast county on October 22nd, 2020.

The Governor recounted the events of that day by saying that goons heckled him at Ikonge in the president’s presence. The president had just finished the launch of the BBI report in Kisii county a couple of days after Mashujaa celebrations.

Uhuru was fronting to establish the Kisii Cold Storage Facility, Suneka Airstrip Phase 1,  Nyakoe Modern Market, Daraja Mbili Market, and Kisii Water Treatment Plant, and many other projects.

The Governor said that he was ready to read memoranda on behalf of the Nyamira county and its residents when the goons started heckling him.

“However, some goons were hired to shut me down. I asked them whether they wanted development or heckling, and they chose the latter. I don’t want to dwell on that because it doesn’t affect me personally but affects the county’s development. The money and resources would have been used here; however, we are still following up with him,” the Governor said.

He added that the humiliation portrayed a lousy picture that the head of the state didn’t like.

The Governor is facing allegations on several occasions of mishandling county resources and poor delivery of services. Also, the youths claimed that the Governor only employs retired residents

.

However, the Governor called for unity of purpose so that the county can focus on development to improve the residents’ living standards.
