Citizen Tv news anchor Victoria Rubandiri will be going on leave for a period of three months. Rubadiri won the 2020 Komla Dumor Award, and therefore she will be gone to London for training with the BBC.

“At the beginning of this program, I said it would be a bittersweet moment because our very own Victoria Rubadiri is off for the next three months… I’m going to miss you, but we know you’re going out there to shine like a diamond,” said Jeff Koinange, Rubadiri’s co-host, as she surprised her with a cake on Sunday night.

“The time has come, London is calling… I’m going to miss you, Jeff,” Rubadiri stated.
Victoria will be joining her placement for three months at BBC. She will get training at the BBC Academy and later will be joining the BBC News teams –across radio, TV, and online, where she will get experience and expertise across BBC News platforms.

“I’m excited at the prospect of learning new skills at the BBC to be able to connect with audiences locally, regionally, and internationally, no matter on which platform the story is being told,” She said when she got in 2020.

She was in the sixth position among other winners, including Nancy Kachungira, Waihiga Mwaura, Solomon Serwanjja, Amina Yuguda, and Didi Akinyelure. The award was created to honor a BBC World News presenter who died suddenly in 2014 at 41.
