‘There Was A Plan To Eliminate Him’: CS Kindiki Orders Probe Into Former Meru MCA’s Deathders P
Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS), has now stated that foul play was involved in the death of former Antubetwe Kiongo Ward MCA George Kaliunga, who was purportedly killed during a banditry attack in Meru County on Sunday.
Kindiki stated on Tuesday in Igembe North, Meru County, that preliminary findings indicate Kaliunga’s murder was premeditated and that his would-be attackers sought to cover it up by pretending a banditry attack.
“The former MCA, Mr. George Kaliunga, did not die by accident.” It appears that there was a strategy to eliminate him. “I assure you that his assassins will be apprehended and prosecuted,” Kindiki stated.

The CS declared the Meru North region a security operation zone after ordering the urgent deployment of Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) officers to the zone in order to curb escalating livestock rustling instances between communities living in Isiolo and Meru counties.

Similarly, the CS asked Meru and Tharaka Nithi county commissioners to develop a method that their respective citizens can utilize to resolve future border conflicts and to present a report on the same to him on Wednesday.
