When Eldoret town police searched a six-bedroom home in Elgonview Estate, they found that it had been turned into a “greenhouse” for growing marijuana.
A police report states that on Tuesday night, the officers thoroughly searched the compound’s two buildings.

21 cannabis plants were discovered in the main bedroom, 68 in the living room, 14 in the dining room, and 26 in a house with an adjacent iron sheet wall that had 68 plants.

A variety of personal documents were also discovered by the officers.

All of the plants, which weighed 33.5 kg and had a street value of about one million Kenyan Shillings, were uprooted after being photographed by DCI Scenes of Crime personnel, according to police.

The police are searching for Kipchumba Michael Kibet, the primary suspect who they believe is responsible for the improvised nursery.

In the interim, police have made an appeal to the public for information that might result in his arrest.
